| History InfoSynthesis & Organization was formed in 2004 to meet the on-going needs of education agencies in the development and maintenance of their management information systems in terms of collection, documentation, and reporting. After the No Child Left Behind Act became law, many states began the process of building statewide student-level data systems which required drastically different ways of viewing, collecting, storing, and sharing data. In response to questions from many states (often the same across states), Dr. Nancy Smith formed InfoSynthesis to assist education agencies in enhancing their information systems and sharing information and lessons learned with each other. President, Nancy J. Smith, Ph.D. Dr. Smith has served as a consultant on a variety of projects, including the federal Performance-Based Decision Making Initiative (PBDMI), a study of mobility in Denver for ESP Solutions Group, and an analysis of the Just for the Kids model for the National Center for Educational Accountabilty (NCEA). Nancy spent two years at Just for the Kids/National Center for Educational Accountability (NCEA) as the director of programming and technology. While at NCEA, she worked with many state education agencies and developed a standardized system for cleaning, analyzing, and programming the data for the Just for the Kids data model. Prior to NCEA, Nancy was employed at the Texas Education Agency in the Research and Evaluation division and the Accountability and School Accreditation division. She also conducted extensive program evaluation projects and participated in large-scale changes to the management information system at the Texas Department of Human Services. Dr. Smith received her doctorate from The University of Texas at Austin in 1997 in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Statistics, Psychometrics, and Program Evaluation. Consultants Experts in educational accountability, management information services, and programming are available for consulting as needed. |
